snapdragon seafarer

One of my lovely friends calls my work “missioni”. To start with, i took no notice. Then she said it again when i was showing off some crochet project or another. So then, consequently, i looked. As it turns out, she is not wrong… See HERE, MISSONI is an Italian fashion brand. And even more consequently, HE has already looked into it as a reference to HIS work. So you know, we can see the parallels deepen between my crochet and his glass. As is mentioned in previous blog posts HERE, THERE and EVERYWHERE. She said to me earlier … Continue reading

quintessential questioning

I have finished MOHAIR QUEEN, before New Year’s Eve 2020, and as much as i have wanted to start learning a new brioche hat technique, i wasn’t quite ready for that. What i was ready for, was more of completing a whole, finishing and old crochet WIP (work in progress) project. The cotton squares (mentioned before HERE and HERE) blanket was about to get finished, all together with working out my dense centre granny square into a favourable configuration of granny square and popcorn stitch… Pattern for this singular square, can be found in my Ravelry Pattern Shop HERE. … Continue reading

industrious inquiry

Blue squares. There is something about the blanket that i want to talk about today, that feels complete. Not just because it is actually finished as a blanket. There is something more. The individual pieces of this blanket were made at various stages as i was learning and relearning crochet stitches. As i started changing my work from my arty farty video installation work and adapting it into something more every day use – you could say crafty farty… I know i keep saying that i do not follow patterns, but at least i try to look at patterns … Continue reading

artful articulation

I don’t undo There is no unraveling and recreating stitches until perfection is bestowed upon my work.  The point of my crochet is not for the project to look perfect, but for me to remember what i have learnt whilst making it… There is only keeping going and trying as i go along, i have no time to go back and redo… When planning this blog post, this was something that became focal to me, as it was always going to be a review of my work with an aim to start the new year with an increased ability … Continue reading

lunar loops crochet

Hello All….. So this is something exciting…. I have had a conversation with a fellow art enthusiast a little while ago, about organizing some crochet workshops in connection to the cycle phases and representation of these in some crochet pieces…  We are both quite excited about getting this going, but, i thought i would get the feel from you, as no workshop is possible without lovely juicy participants…. I have been looking into the cycle phases and the changes that these bring within us for about two or maybe even three years now, as i struggle with the Creative … Continue reading

crochet, crochet and crochet again

This week has been very productive… I have made a lot of bavarian crochet bunting and finished some crochet flower coasters for a feature that is coming up in the Manchester Craft and Design Centre’s very own QUITE CONTRARY DESIGN offered to do a showcase of some of the creations of The Creative Hook. Nice people that they are… 🙂 All the stock got delivered this week and you will be seeing some lovely photos when all is up and integrated, and once the Quite Contrary’s studio has been buntingfied and flowerfied…. Sneaky peak at the bunting here… Another … Continue reading
