As it turns out, I have another blog post in me for this year.  Another final one, before the year 2022 is finished, and before I leave you all, my lovely readers, to your own devices, and to perhaps catch up on my many a blog posts that you may have missed over the last 4 years.  Oh my, I have just had to check, and I have been writing my regular, monthly blog posts since 2019.  Whilst we are getting sentimental, please indulge me.  I have been writing my blog posts since 2014, which means that 8 years … Continue reading

As we all know, end of the year is nearing. This usually means a lot of reflection on my creative year, as well as work year, and all other things that were there for the year. So how about, then, the year 2022?! With this in mind, it is a good place to reflect here, and validate, and explain, and share experiences. Start with the most colourful: For those of you who have been following, this will be no surprise. I do have an announcement to make here, which again, for my @instagram followers is no news now, but … Continue reading

February is the shortest month. Yet in our family it is full of celebratory events. Birthdays, anniversaries, you name it, it happens in our family to some member or other, closest or a bit further apart, we have a lot on in February. This post is about a celebratory blanket for a different event. One that happens only once, usually. Earlier in the year, i was super busy feasting my eyes on rainbow yarn, i got a lovely lot of wool from my sister. There was a lot of red and white and some turquoisey coloured yarn. I was … Continue reading

The small crochet projects for in between Initially, i was actually considering writing this blog post as a review of the last year. As per usual end of year writing, i was going to compare both the years 2020 and 2021: highs and lows, things learnt, things made, that kind of thing. This here post is, indeed, my last post of 2021, after all… I wanted to make it punchy! But, instead of a review of 2021, i decided to dedicate the last month of the year to the small, seemingly insignificant crochet projects in between: soap holders, shopping … Continue reading

How crochet travels! Crochet in the woods. This month’s post is a continuation of my Crochet on the beach story, which you can read in gloriously full detail HERE: After i took the above blankets to the beach, i wanted to see them in the woods. To see how crochet blankets look in a different location, in a new setting. Maybe, also, to see if crochet in the woods would work at all?! By the time i organized this trip/ art installation, there was 10 blankets made by me in existence, and with a limited space in the car, … Continue reading

I have finished MOHAIR QUEEN, before New Year’s Eve 2020, and as much as i have wanted to start learning a new brioche hat technique, i wasn’t quite ready for that. What i was ready for, was more of completing a whole, finishing and old crochet WIP (work in progress) project. The cotton squares (mentioned before HERE and HERE) blanket was about to get finished, all together with working out my dense centre granny square into a favourable configuration of granny square and popcorn stitch… Pattern for this singular square, can be found in my Ravelry Pattern Shop HERE. … Continue reading

New Year. By this i mean both: The one day in January (New Year – day 1 of 365), the first day of the year, and the new cycle (new year – 365 days dates marked anew). What does it mean? In the majority of the western world, people might be aware of setting out resolutions for improvements in the year ahead, as a way of welcoming the new year… My blog had been about hopes for future last month (resolutions, in a way). In this sense, i have done it backwards (or forwards) compare to tradition, and so, … Continue reading

So, we have made it to December 2020. This month i would like to concentrate on the good this year has brought. There had been a lot of hopeless moments in 2020, for sure. The year 2020 shall be remembered as … dramatic pause … We will see how it is remembered, i cannot possibly predict that, that is for future generations and future historians to determine. Intense? Tense? In a word that has been a lot by the media to describe events: Unprecedented. Today’s post, however, is not going to be concerned too much with the disasters that … Continue reading

Toys for boys. That was my prime directive for this kind and considerate request, and it is the story about how they came to be that i would like to tell you today. I do not fully agree that there is such a natural distinction… What i mean is, i am not convinced there is such a thing as innately boy’s toys and innately girl’s toys. I do not have children, so i cannot comment from experience of bringing up a little person of either gender, but i secretly hope that it is culturally enforced and reinforced into our … Continue reading

At the start of 2020 (or pre Corona) i decided to make regular contributions to the blog but was worried i’d have nothing to talk about monthly as blankets take so long to create. I went ahead anyway. Then as i have started writing monthly posts, i was pleasantly surprised not to be short on blog post themes, in fact i am one or three crochet blog posts about completed projects behind, seemingly…. I work on more than two projects at any one time, some small, some big, picking up one or the other as and when, depending whether … Continue reading
