quintessential questioning

I have finished MOHAIR QUEEN, before New Year’s Eve 2020, and as much as i have wanted to start learning a new brioche hat technique, i wasn’t quite ready for that. What i was ready for, was more of completing a whole, finishing and old crochet WIP (work in progress) project. The cotton squares (mentioned before HERE and HERE) blanket was about to get finished, all together with working out my dense centre granny square into a favourable configuration of granny square and popcorn stitch... Pattern for this singular square, can be found in my Ravelry Pattern Shop HERE. As you may have noticed from the date of the two above referenced blog…

phenomenological pondering

I have no words for the world right now. Hope for the best, be prepared for the worst, i think that is the only/ best possible state of mind to have right now. So let's not dwell, and get back to crochet. I mean, those of you who have not picked up needles and yarn, you may as well... I have said before HERE: #crochetplayoneaday you have probably seen this before but I have adapted it with crochet hooks rather than knitting needles. Wooly eyed skull anyone? :) #crochetplay #oneadayPosted by thecreativehook.com on Monday, July 14, 2014 Today i am showing off a quick turnaround, lots of love, specially designed blanket that is warm…

industrious inquiry

Blue squares. There is something about the blanket that i want to talk about today, that feels complete. Not just because it is actually finished as a blanket. There is something more. The individual pieces of this blanket were made at various stages as i was learning and relearning crochet stitches. As i started changing my work from my arty farty video installation work and adapting it into something more every day use - you could say crafty farty... yesterday’s yearnings – yearly yonder The weather in the UK has not been following last year's anomalous hotness... Am i surprised? Not really. But, when i started thinking about this post a little while ago, it was looking promising, with few days here and there bringing us temperatures warranting light jackets, if any outerwear at all... I nearly put my woolly wonders away, before i realised how perfect they are for this exact time in the year.... Crochet blankets are exactly the perfect spring/ summer outdoorsy attire – for evenings especially in the UK.  Whether you are sitting outside after a barbeque of an evening, in your garden, or gathered by a campfire,…

Lemon merinque blanket pattern is READY!!

This week was mostly spent finishing the lemon meringue crochet blanket (Get it?!) so i could therefore finish and publish the pattern... This in turn meant adding a new page, specially dedicated to crochet lace, which you can see HERE. The pattern is ready, and so is the blanket... YAY! Well, it is ready to a point of being big enough to be photographed for the pattern sample. I may still add some rows, as with crochet, you could easily go on indefinitely - or at least untill you can get yarn to work with - and crochet around your whole house.... There's an idea... :) Anyway, I am planning another one which…
