people power

‘There is strength in numbers’, I have heard someone say on many an occasion…  Being a great believer in individuality, but at the same time questioning TRUE individuality of each and every notion, in my personal views on life, something had made me want to write this post.  Crochet related, of course, this is what has happened in my work…

I have famously finished the BAVARIAN CROCHET ROUND BLANKET and you can congratulate me endlessly HERE and wherever else you may wish to do so….  But, this had left me open with a space for the next project….  I have tried Chevron Crochet on numerous occasions and most of the time abandoned the idea altogether…  There is a panel embedded in THIS piece of work, my largest to date yet, which has got an attempt on Chevron Crochet in it, inspired by some of my nan’s work, as seen at my cousin’s ages and ages ago….  But I repeat myself..  The point was, I started doing this as a Back Raised Double Crochet Stitch Chevron Blanket (UK Terminology) because after tried on several occasions, Treble was not working as Chevron for me…

NOW

Double crochet is great, and the effect of back raised stitch is even more textured, BUT…  Can you guess?  I got bored.  So there it was sitting in the corner whilst I have attended to other projects, waiting patently…  But you see, this is where the human connection comes to play its role!  I have been just about finishing this simple radiant beauty (I needed an easy no thinking project after all that time spent on trying to work out the Bavarian Crochet Stitch in the Round):

…AND THEN…

I have seen someone posting pictures of Granny Square Chevron…..   WELL, need I say any more???  I have seen the way forward with the Chevron crochet blanket that has been waiting on the side…  Picked it up and never looked back.  In my very own style, this could be my sampler of different ways to do Chevron Crochet and wait for it: IN RAINBOW COLOUR PALATE!!!!!

So, as much as it is important to know who you are and what your work is, when the Marsbar moment strikes, it is very helpful and reassuring to know that there is a community of people who are just as much into what you are into, and who just by being there, can help you out of your creative (or otherwise) rut…

Thank You for reading…
